45-70 Ammunition-vintage .45-70 ammo for sale

Vintage United Metallic Corporation (UMC) .45-70 GOVERNMENT loaded  ammunition without a box,  17 rounds.  Not sure to classify as black powder or smokeless, UMC produced .45-70 from late 1870’s into 1911, black powder cartridges into mid 1890’s.  This lot shows corrosion on the case and bullet, see image.

 

Slip top box is intact, primers have the “U” stamp.  The box is labeled Soft Point, the ammunition is a metal cased bullet.

 

Union Metallic Cartridge (UMC) founded 1867 in Bridgeport, CT and later became the predecessor to Remington-UMC in 1912.
