Vintage Winchester .38-40 ammo for sale

.38-40 WINCHESTER vintage ammunition.

Original Winchester Repeating Arms cardboard box, wrapped in printed paper.  Circa mid 1870’s-1890’s.  Box is not missing flaps, it was fallen apart and thus been taped together.  Cartridges appear in good shape for their age, some corrosion is evident.

This style green Winchester rifle ammunition box with:

• “Winchester Repeating Arms Co.” wording

• Solid Head marking

• No Super-X branding

puts it circa 1905–1915 (early smokeless powder era, post-black powder transition).

Earlier black-powder boxes usually specify black powder and often lack the solid head callout.
