257 Roberts

Ned Roberts spent several years experimenting with a number of .25 caliber wildcats and eventually settled on using the 7 mm Mauser cases for his cartridge then named the 25 Roberts. Due to the cartridges popularity Remington released their own version and called their new cartridge the 257 Roberts. Handloaders greatly improved the performance by using longer spitzer bullets (Remington’s original load was round nose bullets loaded to low pressures) seated further out to increase powder capacity.
