HISTORY:  The concept behind a 6.8 WESTERN is the ability to effectively handle 165 to 175-grain bullets in order to maximize long range performance in a short-action rifle.  To accomplish this a faster twist rate of 1:8 inches is required in a slightly shorter version of a 270 WSM case.
