HISTORY:  Hornady and Marlin teamed up to create a magnum version of the 45-70, released in 2000. The parent case originated from the 458 Winchester Magnum with a wider belt.  A 450 Marlin can be chambered in a bolt action rifle, currently the only production rifle is made by Steyr-Mannlicher.
