HISTORY:  The 41 Long Colt, also known as .41 Colt Double Action or simply .41 COLT was created in 1877 originally for the double-action Lightning Model revolver then later used in the New Army, New Navy, Army Special, SAA, and Bisley.  The .41 COLT is not a true 41-caliber, having a bore diameter of .401 inches, not much different than a .38-40 sizing.  Not to be confused with the .65-inch short 41 Short Colt.    A good source of reloading information can be found in issue no 351 of the Handloader Magazine page 53 where the use of hollow base .386 bullets are used and must expand .015 inches to make contact with the rifling. and the various powder combinations used to obtain acceptable accuracy.  When researching data note there was a 41 Short Colt loaded to lower pressures.  Starline .41 Colt brass uses the RCBS #32 Shell Holder or Lee #12, click here to shop shell holders.
