Economical, ability to shoot bullets ranging from 110 to 220 grains and the wide array of powders available all equates to versatility. The caliber known as the ’06 began as the 30-03 with slight ballistic improvements over the 30-40 Krag. A few design changes created the 30 caliber Government of 1906, 30-06 Springfield for short.
