Description
.22 AUTOMATIC for Winchester Model 1903 ammunition for sale
Full box Remington “KLEENBORE” (Dog Bone Label) 22 AUTOMATIC for WINCHESTER Model 1903. Box is intact, no missing flaps, Circa 1936-1940 dates to Remington’s introduction of non-corrosive priming.
22 Winchester Automatic was introduced at a time when black powder was still popular and such a load would foul the Model 1903 so the design concept was to prevent anything other than the 22 Automatic from being used. Although similar to a standard 22 Long Rifle, the two are not interchangeable. Loaded with a 45-grain inside lubricated bullet. The Model 1903 rifle became obsolete in 1932.
